Privacy Policy

PopUp is run by QuadCorp Digital (Pty) Ltd ("QuadCorp", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use PopUp, why, and your rights under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact us at quadcorp.co.za@gmail.com.

What we collect

If you browse without an account: nothing that identifies you. We record anonymous counts of page views and contact-button taps on business pages so businesses can see how their page is doing (see "Business insights" below).

If you create an account:

• your display name, email address and password (passwords are stored encrypted — nobody, including us, can read them);
• optionally, an avatar photo and your favourite categories and areas;
• that you agreed to our Terms and confirmed your age, and when.

When you use PopUp:

• businesses you save or follow, and pop-ups you mark as "going" or "interested";
• reviews you write, including any photos you add;
• reports you send us about a review or business;
• messages you send through our contact form (your name, email and message);
• in-app notifications we create for you.

If you list a business: everything you put on your page — business name, description, photos, logo, menu and prices, contact details (WhatsApp, phone, email, social and delivery links), address and pop-up dates. This information is public once your page is approved.

Why we use it

• To run PopUp: your account, your saved items, follows, reviews and notifications.
• To show business pages and pop-ups to the public.
• To review and approve business pages, and to handle reports so PopUp stays trustworthy.
• To reply to your messages and requests.
• To understand and improve PopUp using anonymous, combined statistics.

We never sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Business insights

Business owners can see anonymous counts for their own page: page views, contact-button taps, saves and "going" marks. These counts contain no names, emails or IP addresses. To avoid counting the same visit twice, your browser keeps a random ID that isn't linked to you or your account.

Your location

"Near me" uses your device's location only in your browser, only when you tap it, to sort results by distance. It's never sent to us or stored.

Who processes your information

• Vercel hosts the app and serves the pages you visit.
• Lovable (Lovable Cloud) stores our database, accounts and uploaded photos.
• Google Fonts delivers the fonts on this site; your browser requests them from Google, which receives technical information such as your IP address.

Some of these providers may process data outside South Africa; we only use providers with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account (Profile → Settings → Delete account), we delete your profile, saved items, follows, reviews, uploaded photos and any business page straight away. Anonymous insight counts and limited records we must keep by law may remain.

Children

You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you're under 18, your parent or guardian must agree to our Terms and to us processing your personal information on your behalf. Business accounts are 18+.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct or delete it;
• object to us processing it, or withdraw your consent;
• complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
